In my ongoing search for a good builder with excellent carpentry skills I have discovered a Mr Leslie West. Mr West has an incredible voice and I wonder why I have not previously employed him! He reaches down and literally belts it out. A house built by Mr West is certainly going to last a long time... Ah well, Mr West doesn't lay foundations (no video embedding) so you're all going to have to attend YouTube Building Class.
Several months ago I assisted a bunch of the coolest actors on the planet! I teach drama to the disabled and intellectually impaired and a group of us got together and we made a short video for a contest called the 48 Hour Film Competition. It was absolutely crazy! Lots of fun and lots of dressing up as Doctors and Nurses for a soap drama epic!
As you can see it was very interesting. Horses jumping about getting drunk and Medical Staff you would not want examining any part of your body! Sometimes I worry... what am I teaching our easily led youth (!)
The Polaroid camera... remember it? That click and whirr sound and the expectation as you wait and flip and peel back the blacking to reveal...? Tarkovsky was the master of light in film as a poetic notion. Sculpting in time. His spirit was light and this book captures it perfectly. Visually. And he used a Polaroid... so many of us never wait for that reveal any more...
...okay, a double Grace move and a tribute to those who go thirty thousand feet up. And a bit more of that 60's groove. Here's the White Rabbit in full flight from the Airplane spinning across multi images of the time and era. I'll tag 'em for you - Marty, Paul, Jorma, Jack, Spencer and Grace (who were an item for a while) Kids went crazy for this and a lot of parents went crazy trying to deal with their crazy kids. Blame the Airplane and those little white tabs...
...and the Summer Of Love. Well, early 67' actually but I'm gonna' kick on this every now and then as I'm a 'wish I was a sixties' teen. Grace sang for Jefferson Airplane, the coolest multi-delic-color band ever. Grace was a tripper and what you see is what you got. White Rabbits and Somebody To Love were her chart toppin' mantras of the time (spirited away from her previous band The Great Society) but she swung with lots of other great tunes. The era gets me in and more to slide by... yeah, Grace.
This is what I wake up to most mornings. Would be kinda' cool if it was every morning but such is the way of it. And if the trees are in the groove I get a visit from an outsized wood pigeon who flumps (is that a word?) by, lands on the flimsiest (I'm certain thats a word) branch possible and picks at the berries until Panther Cat from next door attempts to flip him off with a waving claw. Titirangi... Google Earth it...
The Prince of Stylin' Air - Christian Hosoi back in 85' at Del Mar Skate Ranch. Man, he was the one with eight feet. I caught the dude flipping in Melbourne, Australia several times at various demos about town. My first skate trip to the States I rolled about his ramp up in Hollywood with the Gonz. Man, trippy days. The short story for the Prince is this - went through the tough days of vert skating trippin' out - got busted for possession of ice and roughed it jailside - found God and started flying again... strange how it all turns out...
